Top Ten Tuesday: Spring TBR List

Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten List based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.

This week’s topic is Top Ten Books on your Spring TBR List.

This topic was surprisingly hard for me! There are a ton of books I’m planning to read and review in March, April, and May so it was super difficult to narrow it down. Anyway – here they are! The top ten books I’ve most excited to read in the next two months!

01. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
Look, okay, YEAH I KNOW. I read The Hunger Games and Catching Fire last year and I’ve been putting off Mockingjay. Before you bring out the pitchforks and torches, my goal is to spend all day Thursday reading it so when I go to the midnight premiere, no asshat will spoil it like they always do.

02. Grave Mercy Robin LaFevers
I have a NetGalley version of Grave Mercy to read next week or so and I’m so excited because I’ve heard so many freaking good things about it! I love fantasy and kickass heroines so this will be fabulous!

03. Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins

YESSS. I bought Spell Bound last week when it came out and I’m hoping to get to it ASAP. I loved the previous books in the series and I’m super sad that Spell Bound is last one! But I heard that there’s going to be a spin-off, which should be interesting.

04. The Académie by Susanne Dunlap
Historical fiction! Paris! Boarding school! Royalty! Scandal! I have been dying to read The Académie for ages and I even have a copy and I am reading it in the next week or so, for real.

05. A Breath of Eyre by Eve Marie Mont
YES PLEASE to A Breath of Eyre. First off, I love Jane Eyre. Second off, exclusive prep schools and cute boys. And then you’re going to throw in the fact that the protagonist somehow manages to be transported to Jane Eyre’s body? Count me in. Oh, and? There’s going to be other books in the series, all involving the same protag going into other books. Sounds like an awesome series!

06. Kiss the Morning Star by Elissa Janine Hoole
Uhm, yeah. I have a copy of Kiss the Morning Star and I’m participating in the blog tour and I’m all over it! I love road trips and even though I kind of totally hated On the Road, I’m stoked to read this!

07. The List by Siobhan Vivian
I’m always up for a good contemp and The List sounds right up my alley! Although I did read that it has eight POVs which kind of worries me, but hopefully it works out well!

08 The Summer My Life Began by Shannon Greenland
Again, another book I’m participating in the blog tour for! The Summer My Life Began sounds like one of those books that there comes a time you just need to read it. Does that make sense? Like sometimes books fit perfectly into that moment and your mood and you just feel so good afterwards because it’s exactly what you needed? I think that’s what The Summer My Life Began will end up being for me.

09. The Temptation by Alisa Valdes
Honestly, I’m not even sure what to expect from The Temptation. I’ve been pickier and pickier about my paranormals lately, but The Temptation sucked me in with the cowboy ghost in the description.

10. Supergirl Mixtapes by Meagan Brothers
Supergirl Mixtapes sounds like an awesome contemp, I must say. New York City and music and cute boys and mysterious and dark secrets. I’m in!

  2. I actually know someone who intentionally only read the first Hunger Games book because he thought it should be a standalone. I hope you enjoy Mockingjay, though!

I also really like Jane Eyre, but I’m not sure how I will feel about this new story!

  8. Grave Mercy is up next on my list too! Enjoy Mockingjay! People really have mixed responses to that one. Spellbound will certainly get squeezed in somewhere on my list I have a feeling, b/c I must know what happens!! Here’s our Top 10 this week! Happy Reading!

  10. I hope you enjoy Mockingjay! The Academie is one that I’ve had my eye on for a while now, maybe after my Spring Break. Hope you get you all those books on your list!

  11. Thanks for sharing your excellent list! I thought Mockingjay was great, and elevated the series to the level of “classic,” but some of my friends disagree! I also have to say, I love the cover of Supergirl Mixtapes (and am old enough to remember people creating actual mixtapes) so I might end up picking that one up myself.

  12. Great list! I have a lot of these on my TBR for this spring. It’s so hard to pick just 10! You could just wear earplugs while you wait in line Thursday night! lol Honestly, I don’t know how you’ve gone this long without having it spoiled for you already! Good luck with that! I saw Purity got to you yesterday. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

  15. I read The Hunger Games last year, and I have the other two books on my Kindle for this year. I didn’t think I’d like them – dystopian fiction is not my thing at all – but I loved The Hunger Games, and I can’t wait to read the others. I’m looking forward to the movie as well.

  18. Yay for Grave Mercy! I also have the NetGalley copy, can’t wait to read it!! And I can’t believe I didn’t add The Academie and The List to my list! And The Summer My Life Began sounds really cute :)

  19. You haven’t read Mockingjay? GET ON THAT.

  20. Haha, it’s funny to me that this was a hard topic for you, as it was probably the easiest TTT I’ve ever done! You’ve picked some excellent books, Grave Mercy was amazeballs, and I can’t wait to get my hands on Spell Bound. I saw it on the processing shelf at the library today and grabbed the YA librarian to put my name on it immediately before it even goes into the system so that once it’s in, it’s mine! :P

  21. I’ve never heard of Kiss the Morning Star before, but it seems interesting! Kind of like a typical road trip, but that little bit about sexual identity is a twist. Definitely leads to questions and makes me want to read it to know!

I want to read The Summer My Life Began, it seems so perfect for a beach read! I have too many books in my queue right now so I’m holding off requesting it, but oh…it is difficult. I’ll probably cave soon haha.

And yeah…get on that Mockingjay! I hope no one spoils it for you in line!

  22. I can’t believe you haven’t read Mockingjay yet! Definitely have it read before Thursday. Someone will almost certainly ruin and that would be incredibly lame.
