Excited for May 2012

SO MANY AWESOME BOOKS come out EVERY month. And this month? TOO MANY. I don’t know what I’m going to do because I basically want to buy them all. It’s going to be hard, guys! Which ones are you most excited for?
Please note that this is clearly not ALL of the books coming out in May. Also note that sometimes release dates change and I don’t catch them!
I’ve been highlighting each month’s releases since November of 2010. View past editions by clicking here.

Being Friends with Boys by Terra Elan McVoy – Amazon | Goodreads
I picked up this book at like, 10 PM and refused to put it down until 2 AM when I finished. So freaking good. You DON’T want to miss this one!
Body and Soul by Stacey Kade – Amazon | Goodreads
Man, I really loved the first two books in this series. Much deeper than the covers make the series out to be. Can’t wait for the final book!
Destined by Aprilynne Pike – Amazon | Goodreads
I’m a book behind in this series, but I really loved the first two! I’m not usually a big faerie fan, but I really like this series.
Insurgent by Veronica Roth – Amazon | Goodreads
I’m sure no explanation is necessary.

Shine by Jeri Smith-Ready – Amazon | Goodreads
I LOVEEEED this book and this series SO FREAKING MUCH. Check out my full review here.
Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins – Amazon | Goodreads
This would probably be a book I’d consider skipping, except I heard great things from Kari, and now I have to read it!
The Vicious Deep by Zoraida Cordova – Amazon | Goodreads
This sounds like such an original mermaid twist! Can’t wait.
Waiting by Carol Lynch Williams – Amazon | Goodreads
I have a feeling this is going to be an intense and moving contemporary.

A contemp featuring a teenage bookie? I’m down!

Magic in Manhattan by Sarah Mlynowski – Amazon | Goodreads
WITCHES. Also, an adorable cover.

More Magic in Manhattan by Sarah Mlynowski – Amazon | Goodreads
More witches! Equally adorable cover! Also, wah, I can’t find this one on Amazon so I’m not even sure it’s actually coming out this month BUT I HOPE IT DOES.
Pilgrims Don’t Wear Pink by Stephanie Kate Strohm – Amazon | Goodreads
Sounds FUN. I love reading about fellow history nerds!
Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson – Amazon | Goodreads
I CAN’T WAIT. I’ve got my tissue box ready!

Meg Cabot fangirl right here!
Until I Die by Amy Plum – Amazon | Goodreads
I didn’t like the first one as much as I hoped, but I can’t resist PARIS!
One for the Murphys by Lynda Mullaly Hunt – Amazon | Goodreads
I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that focuses on the protagonist being adopted/a foster child. Plus, HURRAH for family dynamics!

Gilt by Katherine Longshore – Amazon | Goodreads
Heck yes for historical fiction!

The Lost Code by Kevin Emerson – Amazon | Goodreads
Eep! This one has all sorts of things go for it – futuristic, male POV, science-y, etc!
The Whispering House by Rebecca Wade – Amazon | Goodreads
Middle grade! Ghosts! All over it.
Dreamless by Josephine Angelini – Amazon | Goodreads
I thought the first one was a fun retelling with an original start to a relationship!
Keep Holding On by Susane Colasanti – Amazon | Goodreads
SO FREAKING GOOD. And important and eye-opening.

ahhh such pretty books! I’ve read Welcome Caller and liked it. :] I’m definitely going to be reading Vicious Deep and Of Poseidon.

I pretty much want to give a great big hug because of this feature. I mean, not that I need another reason to love your blog or buy another book, but seeing all these pretties organized so nicely is making my book-loving nerdy heart so happy! GAH! I just want to go on a major shopping spree. SO BAD FOR MY WALLET!

I’m so glad to hear someone else loves the Ghost and the Goth books too! I really liked the first two and I can’t wait to read Body & Soul :]
Oh man, The Vicious Deep. I’ve been super into mermaids for a while now. I’m hoping this one turns out to be an awesome addition to the mermaid book family!
I really, really need to read Welcome, Caller. I’ve had an ARC since Jan, but I’m so addicted to library books that I still haven’t gotten to it :P What She Left Behind looks really good too. I love mysteries.
When You Were Mine and Revived! Yes yes yes! I’m excited to see what When You Were Mine does with Romeo &Juliet since I’m not a big R&J fan.
I didn’t immediately put Second Chance Summer on my TBR, but when I found out it was Morgan Matson I added it immediately! I super need to read Struck as I’ve had an ARC of that for about a month now :P
Man, I’m so looking forward to Of Poseidon. I’ve been coveting that cover since the moment I first saw it.
And I’m suuuuuper excited for The Lost Code. Which reminds me, I should go make sure these are all on the waitlist at the library…
Great post!
