Top Ten Tuesday: Most Vivid Settings

Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.
Also, this list is totally in no particular order.

1) Crewel by Gennifer Albin
The first book that popped into my mind when I looked at the topic this week was Crewel, hands down. Talk about an inventive and amazing and imaginative story. I was totally sucked into the world Gennifer Albin created. You can see my early review here.
2) Tortall, in Tamora Pierce’s Books
LOVE LOVE LOVE Tortall. It’s one of those worlds that I’ve practically memorized the maps for. I just love the way we get the history of the Tortall throughout each series she writes and they intertwine and Tortall is just one of my favourite places ever.
3) The Uglies series by Scott Westerfield
Again, another brilliantly creative world. From the lingo to the surgeries to the description of the cities and the out-lying areas – I could definitely picture this world easily.
4) Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill
I LOVED Meant to Be and I thought Lauren Morrill described London brilliantly. I’d actually been to many of the locations Lauren talked about, so it was awesome to picture them the way the protagonist did for the first time.

5) The Giver by Lois Lowry
Enough said?
6) Across the Universe by Beth Revis
Who thought a space station would be so well described! There were so many different layers to Across the Universe and different sections of the ship and even a MAP of the ship was included.
7) Above World by Jenn Reese
I thought Above World was one of the most creative books I’ve ever read. I was just wowed by the extent of Jenn Reese’s imagination. You can read my full review here.
8) The Mortal Instruments & Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare
I love the world in Cassandra Clare’s series. I can’t even really go into details – I just love diving into another book by her every single time.
And nowwwww the obvious ones -

9) The Harry Potter series by JK Rowling
Uhm, seriously.
10) The Lord of the Rings series by J.R.R. Tolkien
Ditto to above. DUH. Love love love love.

There is Harry Potter again. Would you hate me if I said I had never read the Lord of the Rings?

Oh yes, the Westerfeld books are so happy-making for me!!! Westerfeld is responsible for me loving YA. Seriously. (Also Darren Shan, but that’s another story. I don’t know anyone else that loves him. His books are a little more creepy.)

I haven’t read most of these yet. Uglies wasn’t especially vivid for me, but it was a pretty cool world for sure. I SUPER agree about Tortall though. I also really adored in Trickster’s how we got to see one of the other countries. :)
