Blog Tour: Fairview Felines by Michele Corriel

GUYS. Are you looking for a freaking awesome middle grade with a male protagonist with an interest in journalism (yay protagonists with dreams and goals!) and not to mention the MYSTERY and all the cats? Definitely check out Fairview Felines by Michele Corriel! I had so much fun reading Fairview Felines and I think all lovers of middle grade will too.

Fairview Felines is being put out by Ambush Books – a publisher that republishes older and out of print books to e-book form so we still have access to it :) And the awesome Katie designed the cover!

Check out this interview with Michele Corriel and be sure to enter my kindle book giveaway of Fairview Felines and its sequel, True Lies!

Thomas Weston has newspaper ink in his veins. Not only that but he also has funny headlines running through his brain 24/7. If he can convince the principal at Fairview Middle School he has what it takes, maybe, just maybe, he’ll be able to make his dream of a school newspaper come true. But first he has to figure out why all the cats in Fairview are vanishing!- Goodreads

Michele Corriel, author of Fairview Felines

Who is your favorite sleuthing young person, besides Thomas? I personally am a Nancy Drew and Veronica Mars fangirl.

Love Nancy. Now there’s a girl who not afraid to put herself on the line! I also enjoy Sammy Keyes … she really gets herself in trouble for all the right reasons.

What experiences have you had with journalism and how did it influence you to write Fairview Felines?

I’ve been writing for newspapers and magazines for the last twenty years. And I have a degree in Journalism, so, yeah, you could say I have a lot of experience. :)

I worked for a weekly newspaper for many years and set that office up as the County Journal, the newspaper Thomas’ mom owns. They say, write what you know, and I know newspapers. And I love newspapers. They are so important to a thriving democracy, I just really want people to understand that.

I’m a huge cat lover, so all the cats in Fairview Felines made me happy (though not the disappearing part!) – are you a cat or dog person?

I’m both. I have two cats and one dog and we all get along. I always thought I was a dog person, but once we starting having cats … well, what’s not to love? (Besides the litter box and the ripped up furniture?)

If you could be the author of any already published work, which would it be and why?

I would have to say that I’d loved to have written the Sherlock Holmes books. Sherlock is such a great character, so timeless. It’s like Shakespeare, you can drop his character into any situation and he still makes sense. He’s imperfect in so many ways, and yet you’re always rooting for him. So smart and so damaged. My kind of guy!

Are you planning on writing another book in the Newspaper Mystery series? Can you share any details?

I have an idea in my head about Thomas facing a blogger! Ha! Not to say anything bad about bloggers but it’s kind of an issue in the newspaper world – journalists have to have at least two sources for every story. Bloggers don’t. I don’t want to get on anyone’s bad side J, but for me, it’s an interesting topic. Sometimes it’s not about who gets the news first, but who gets it right.
