1) Alanna from the Alanna series by Tamora Pierce
Such an awesome character. I can’t even with how much I admire her and her kickassness.
2) Princess Mia from The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot
I LOVE Mia Thermopolis. She’s a freaking princess!
3) Morgan Rowlands from the Sweep series by Cate Tiernan
One of my fave series ever – I just loved watching Morgan grow from a self-conscious teenager into a strong and confident teenage witch and she kicked Wiccan ass for real.
4) Rose from the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
C’mon. Have you read this series? Do I need to explain?
5) Sandry, Daja, Tris from the Circle of Magic series by Tamora Pierce
Is choosing three girls for #5 cheating? Eh, whatever. I LOVE this series and all three of these girls are awesome and kickass in their own way!
6) Elisa from The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson
One of the things I love so much about this series is how much Elisa grows throughout the series. She rocks my socks!
7) Scarlet from Scarlet by A.C. Gauhen
Guys, this girl rolls with Robin Hood. Love it.
8) Saba from Blood Red Road by Moira Young
So much love for Saba. She’s loyal and fierce and so awesome.
9) Katniss from the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Again. Explanation needed? I think not!
10) Katarina Bishop from Heist Society by Ally Carter
She’s a teenage jewel/art thief. LOVE IT.

I’m currently in the middle of reading the Vampire Academy series and there’s no explanation needed – Rose is kickass.
I’ve not read many of the books you’ve mentioned but I have put a few on my to-read list :)

I LOVE Rose. I’m getting to book 5 soon and I’m so anxious to finish out the series now!
Also love to see Kat Bishop on someone else’s list too. I saw Heist Society as a YA Ocean’s 11 (which I love) so that was such a fun book to read!

I have never read anything by Tamora Pierce, but I really want to. I’m just not sure where to start. We have nearly all her books at the library, but it is a little overwhelming. Any recommendations on where to start?

I agree with all those for the ones I’ve read. It’s hard to narrow it down to 10, or else my list definitely would’ve included Kat, Katniss, & Scarlet.
