This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a freebie! So I choice Top Ten Books of 2012 So Far.

In no particular order, here we go!

Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard

I am full of happy feelings whenever I think about Wanderlove. Everything about this book resonated with me and I think you should go read it. Right now. Immediately. My full review can be found here.

Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill

Okay, Meant to Be is ME. Basically, I have a sneaking suspicion that Lauren Morrill sat down and was like “Hmmm, let me take all of the elements of Tara and put them into a book.” And voila, there was Meant to Be.

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson

SOB SOB SOB. Also, SO MUCH LOVE for Second Chance Summer. It was just absolutely stunning. My review is more of a sentence than anything, but you can find it here.

Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen

GUYS. Scarlet has Robin Hood and swords and a badass female protagonist and also, did I mention Robin Hood? Because he’s definitely swoon worthy. My full review is here.

May B. by Caroline Starr Rose

May B. was my first novel in verse EVER, or rather that I can remember (I’m sure I read one or two as a kid), and it was brilliant and emotional and powerful – also, set during the prairie times, which is AWESOME. Full review here.

Hemlock by Kathleen Peacock

GUYS. Hemlock totally re-changed my mind about werewolves. I thought I was over them and then BAM. Such an epic book. Full review here!

Child of the Mountains by Marilyn Sue Shank

Child of the Mountains is stunning and quiet and powerful. A very moving historical fiction. My full review can be found here.

7 Clues to Winning You by Kristin Walker

7 Clues to Winning You is legit the PERFECT pick-me-up. I had so much reading it, my bad mood was completely gone! My review is here.

Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood

Born Wicked has WITCHES. Swoon worthy boys and WITCHES. My full review can be found here.

Awkward by Marni Bates

I loved Awkward! Fun and cute and HILARIOUS. I need more from Marni Bates! My review is here.

Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is Top Ten Favourite Characters.

Angus Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison1) Georgia Nicolson from the Georgia Nicolson series by Louise Rennison

GUYS, I feel like Georgia has been on a billion and twelve of my Top Ten Tuesday lists so far, and that’s because this series is UNBELIEVABLY FABULOUS. She’s ridiculous and embarrassing and hilarious and I could read about her misadventures every day for the rest of forever.

2) Alanna from the Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce

Alanna is a BADASS. She’s just a young girl set in a time where girls were meant to be ladies and she takes control of her own destiny and she stands up for herself and her friends and her beliefs and she has a badass cat and can use a sword! Love it.

Book of Shadows by Cate Tiernan3) Morgan Rowlands from the Sweep/Wicca series by Cate Tiernan

Witches are my FAVOURITE and I love this series so much. Sure, it’s a bit cheesy at times, but I have so much respect for Morgan as a character. She struggles with so many things throughout the course of the series and I could (and have) read it a billion and twelve times.

4) Rose Hathaway from the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead

Another badass protagonist on my list! I love Rose because she does what a lot of YA protagonists don’t – she embraces her strength and her sexuality.

Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard5) Bria Sandoval from Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard

I love Bria! She grows so much from the beginning of Wanderlove to the end and I really admire her for that. She’s struggling and unsure for so many legit reasons but she doesn’t let her insecurities hold her back.

6) Michael Moskowitz from the Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot

Most. Perfect. Guy. Ever.

Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone by JK Rowling7) Neville Longbottom for the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling

I LOVE NEVILLE. Who doesn’t love Neville? I even named my car after Neville. Again, another character I love that experiences so much growth throughout the course of the story.

8) Cam Cooper from The Probabilty of Miracles by Wendy Wunder

Cam Cooper is one of the most brave, real characters I’ve encountered in young adult literature. She’s memorable and oh so snarky and is quite good at ripping your heart out and stomping on it.

Mediator by Meg Cabot9) Suze Simon from the Mediator series by Meg Cabot

Another badass protagonist! A badass with a heart of gold. Love her so much – and her abilities and the way she handles her abilities, and all of the characters in her life, and if you haven’t read this series yet, go now.

10) Jesse from the Mediator series by Meg Cabot

Sigh. Love him.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is Top Ten Deceiving Books.

I decided to focus mainly on Deceiving Covers.

01. Invincible Summer by Hannah Moskowitz

Invincible Summer by Hannah Moskowitz is beautifully written and extremely moving, and focuses mainly on a dysfunctional family relationship. This cover, while I don’t hate it at all, totally doesn’t reflect the themes of the book, at least in my opinion. My review is here.

02. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Well, honestly this whole series is chock full of deceiving covers. I was finally pressured to read this series late 2010 by Jen and I seriously do not regret it – they are unbelievably fabulous. But if I hadn’t been pressured by her, I would have walked by these books without a second glance. My review is here.

03 and 04. Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

I love both Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door like crazy. I love their covers and their titles – they’re fun and cute and girly. LOVE IT. But I also think that these books are about so much more than that. My review of Anna and the French Kiss is here and my review of Lola and the Boy Next Door is here.

05. In Honor by Jessi Kirby

Again, like with the two above, I LOVE this cover. It’s fun! It’s cute and girly. But In Honor is not about being cute and girly – it’s a very moving story about honoring a dead brother and the self-discovery the sister and best friend must face in the aftermath of his death.

06. Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler

Twenty Boy Summer is one of my favourite books EVER. And this is actually cheating, because I love the cover. The title, on the other hand, made me originally wary when I first heard of this book. It was DECEIVING.

07. Keep Holding On by Susane Colasanti

Guys, check out that cover. Keep Holding On looks cute and fun, right? WRONG. It’s so emotionally moving and horrifying and needs to be put in the hands of every teenager ever.

08. Mostly Good Girls by Leila Sales

Mostly Good Girls by Leila Sales is about the hilarious misadventures of a real teen girl. That cover, while totally cute, just doesn’t work for me. My review is here.

09. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

I think the cover of Shatter Me is gorgeous and does a great job of showing the strength of the main character. I mean, check it – a pretty dress and a fierce look! But every time I look at it, I want to see more, you know? I think a lot of people who pick Shatter Me up based on the cover are in for a surprise. My review is here.

10. Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce

I LOVE TAMORA PIERCE. I am her #1 fangirl for real. But let’s face it – most of her covers are cheesy as hell. And while I LOVE and keep buying every single new edition that comes out (seriously, every single edition), those covers do not reflect the epicness within.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is Top Ten Books to Read in a Day.

I cheated, kind of. It was too hard for me to pick ALL OF THE BOOKS so I narrowed it down to books I read in 2011 and this half of 2012 so far. SO, here it goes!

01. Divergent by Veronica Roth

I actually bought Divergent by Veronica Rothi to read on the plane on the way home from my study abroad in England. I made the mistake of picking it up a few days beforehand to read “just the first chapter” – and ended up finishing it by the end of the night! Whoops. My review is here.

02. Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen

Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen is just such a ME book, you know? It’s got sword fightings and historical fiction and swoonworthy men and kickass heroines. I was absolutely enraptured by Scarlet and I’m sure you will be too! My review is here.

03. Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins

Demonglass, as well as the first book in the series, Hex Hall, is such an AMAZING witchy drama full of boarding school and mystery and murder and magic. I love these books and the protagonist and I love picking these books up and getting swept away. My review is here.

04. In Honor by Jessi Kirby

IN HONOR IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND MOVING. That is all.

05. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I often look at myself in the mirror and say, “Why did you wait so long to read The Hunger Games, Tara? What is wrong with you?” And then I say to myself, “Well, I read it in a damn day, okay? It was addicting. I made up for lost time.” Etc.

06. Past Perfect by Leila Sales

Leila Sales is HILARIOUS and so is Past Perfect. Majorly good times lie within these pages. My review is here.

07. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Man, Shatter Me is such a beautifully written and engaging dystopian. One of my faves for sure – sucked me right in! My review is here.

08. Saving June by Hannah Harrington

Saving June by Hannah Harrington had one of my favourite couples in YA ever! Road trips and grief and romance galore. My review is here.

09. Cinder by Marissa Meyer

I have absolutely never read anything like Cinder before in my life, and I loved it SO MUCH. My review is here.

10. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith is a fun and moving and swoon-worthy book for sure! My review is here.
